Abstract
Civil.
The objective of this research work is to find the relationship that existing knowledge of mathematics (CPM) with the performance (RA) in the course of differential calculus in the students of the II cycle of the UNFV at the FIC, 2020. The objective was achieved by applying the instruments that were validated by 3 experts, consisting of a questionnaire and a record of notes about a sample of 42 students. The results of the instruments on the course say that 11.9% indicate that when relate previous knowledge with academic performance, it was obtained that it is very good (11.9% with very high performance and 0% with high performance). 47.6% indicate that when relating previous knowledge with academic performance, it was obtained that it is good (7.1% with very high performance and 40.5% with high performance). 38.1% indicate that when relating previous knowledge with academic performance it was obtained that it is regular (31.0% with average performance and 7.1% with low performance). 2.4% indicate that the relationship of the CPM with RA was found to be poor (2.4% with low performance). HE concludes that 95.2% indicate that when relating prior knowledge with the academic performance turns out to be acceptable. In the contrast of hypotheses the coefficient Spearman's Rho correlation was 0.967, then there is a high positive correlation between the variables, in addition the level of significance is 0.000 < 0.05, then it is the null hypothesis is rejected, therefore the alternative hypothesis is accepted; it is stated that the previous knowledge is significantly related to the academic performance of Differential calculus in the students of the II cycle of the UNFV in the Faculty of Engineering Civil.
