El objetivo de este trabajo de investigación fue en este trabajo monográfico que aborda la web 1, web 2 y la web 3, se hace precisiones acerca de sus inicios alrededor de 1945 con la propuesta de Vannevar Bush, quien fue un ferviente crítico de la metodología de su época para buscar información. Es así que poco a poco comienza a pensar en un dispositivo que ayude al usuario; este fue nombrado “memex”. Tiempo después, Ted Nelson, con base en lo anterior, propone un nuevo término, surgiendo el hipertexto; no obstante, es recién con el trabajo de Tim Berners-Lee que el sistema hipertextual comienza a cobrar vida y funcionalidad. Así nace la www. Desde su surgimiento, la web se encuentra en constante evolución y cambios; inicia con una web 1.0, luego la web 2.0 hasta llegar a la web semántica. Las webs tienen dos clases de páginas de acuerdo con su configuración: las estáticas y las dinámicas, que se subdividen según su funcionalidad.
