Teaching English for Specific Purposes in EFL classroom

Abstract

El objetivo de esta investigación es que los profesores necesitan saber la diferencia entre ESL y EFL porque hay diferentes métodos y metodologías para enseñar cada uno de ellos. Los estudiantes de ESL tienen una mayor motivación y una necesidad inmediata del idioma inglés. porque están en un país donde se necesita y se habla el idioma inglés. Por otro lado, es posible que los estudiantes de inglés como lengua extranjera nunca utilicen el inglés fuera del aula porque están en un entorno donde el idioma inglés no se habla a diario. Esa es la razón principal por la que los profesores de inglés tienen que identificar y analizar necesidades, metas y objetivos de los estudiantes. ESP ayuda a los profesores a descubrir lo que necesitan enseñar dando vocabulario específico, gramática, expresiones, etc. haciendo que las clases sean más emocionantes e interesantes para los estudiantes porque los contenidos están relacionados con los temas que les interesan. Como hemos visto en los contenidos de esta investigación, ESP ha evolucionado a lo largo de los años. Hay muchas ramas de ESP dependiendo de los objetivos del estudiante y se aparecerán más sucursales en los próximos años. Es por eso que los profesores de ESP deben estar capacitados para hacer un buen análisis de necesidades para hacer un buen plan de estudios que a los estudiantes les gustará estudiar.

The objective of this research is that Teachers need to know the difference between ESL and EFL because there are different methods and methodologies to teach each of them. ESL students have higher motivation and an immediate need for the English language because they are in a country where the English language is needed and spoken. On the other hand, EFL students might never use English outside a classroom because they are in an environment where the English Language is not spoken daily. That's the main reason therefore English teachers have to identify and analyze students' needs, goals, and objectives. ESP helps teachers to find out what they need to teach giving specific vocabulary, grammar, expressions, etc making classes more exciting and interesting for the students because the contents are related to the topics, they are interested in. As we have seen in the contents of this research, ESP has evolved over the years. There are a lot of branches of ESP depending on the student's objectives and they will appear more branches in the next years. That's why ESP teachers must be trained to make a good need's analysis to make up a good curriculum that students will like to study.
